When FEAR becomes a CONCEPT instead of an EMOTION, you have returned your POWER back to your SELF.

FEAR – noun
1. an unpleasant emotion caused by the BELIEF that someone or something is dangerous, and likely to cause pain, or a threat
. (dictionary.com)

Let’s examine the CONCEPT of FEAR . Fear truly is just a CONCEPT. It isn’t even REAL! It is a BELIEF that a FUTURE moment has the potential to cause harm or pain. FEAR certainly FEELS real in the body which is reacting with a loud rapid heartbeat, sweaty palms, heaviness on the chest, shortness of breath, a feeling of paralysis. All of this commotion just because of a BELIEF?

Our mind BELIEVES that FEAR keeps us SAFE. Hmm?

Just the other day a friend reminded me of a timeless classic book written a few decades ago entitled, “Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway”. A phenomenal book that helps reframe FEAR as something to WALK TOWARDS instead of RUN AWAY from as a method of FREEING yourself from limiting beliefs.

In my own Lucid Dreaming excursions I have bravely stared my own FEARS right in the eye, and watched them transform from enemies into my dearest allies.

FACE your FEARS which are simply BELIEFS costumed in well-made disguises. As you CHOOSE to acknowledge each fear one by one, you will soon have an army of ALLIES, with no enemy left in sight!

  1. I love that you didn’t just eliminate your fears you TRANSFORMED them into something that helped you!
There were so many good quotes available, I couldn’t narrow it down to just one. 😃

To use fear as the friend it is, we must retrain and reprogram ourselves. We must persistently and convincingly tell ourselves that the fear is here–with its gift of energy and heightened awareness–so we can do our best and learn the most in the new situation.
    ~ Peter Williams

Many of our fears are tissue-paper-thin, and a single courageous step would carry us clear through them.

Ultimately we know deeply that the other side of every fear is freedom.

    1. GREAT quotes! You my dear are HIRED! …oh …right…this is still a single venture. But one day! Love the tissue paper thin one. We just don’t KNOW that a fear is that thin unless we challenge it.

  2. I’ve just gotten into lucid dreaming, but haven’t yet had an encounter with anything fearful – I hope to respond the same as you if/when I do! 🙂
Also, I love the reminder that fear is just a belief, that it isn’t tangible, concrete….something that IS. It isn’t, it’s just a perception/belief on the part of our minds. Thank you, from someone who struggles with fear almost every night before bed! XO

    1. Fear every night before bed….yikes…that’s rough.
There are many ways to pull the plug on fear’s power. I just worked with a client on Skype the other day using NLP.
